- Housing is no where near the bottom. Underwater mortgages, unemployed home owners running out of unemployment compensation and the inevitable rise in interest rates as inflation takes hold will further depress prices. Right now, the interest rates on mortgages are unsustainably low.

- Texas: a state of ignorance. They used to export their surplus oil, now they're exporting their surplus ignorance in the form of text books, members of Congress and a recent President.

- Actually far better than trusting Insurance executives whose salaries and fat bonuses depend on effectively screwing clients. Politicians and bureaucrats are on fixed incomes, a mere fraction of what Insurance executives take home.

- The Health Insurers long ago bribed (campaign donations and perks) Congressmen to give them exemptions from prosecution. The doctors were either too disorganized, raised too little money or had enough self respect and high enough ethical standards not to bribe Congress.

- This is capitalism run amok... no ethics, no standards, no scruples. I sure wish we could target executives to drop out of the workforce.

- We need to return to inflation adjusted progressive tax rates that existed from WWII until around 1970. That would tax income above $3 million per year at 90%.

Just read what you wrote regarding the bailout and the people in government, and the CEO's who are greedy beyond belief.
I think this bailout may do a little bit of good in the short run, but it's laden with
so many things that can go wrong. I wonder how much of the money will make it to where it should really go.
